Weed lovers

I know you’re out there. Reading a recent news article I had instant flashbacks of being a young, big-eyed, rosy cheeked naturopathic student of 20+years ago.  While my career since may have taken me in somewhat of a different direction, I know many of my colleagues have stayed true to their roots (both weedy and herbal) and love nothing more than a bit of urban foraging.  Sometimes even sharing their bounty with me, much to my delight.  I salute you!

The essential recognition that the best health foods are not in a store but in nature and that healthcare should be without financial barriers is a global truth but it remains a little underground here.

But with current Australian evidence suggesting a resurgence of in-house herbal medicine manufacture by practitioners, and growing community interest in shared green spaces, community gardens etc. maybe we will also be able to foster more awareness and embracing of edible weeds in our clients.

This recent ABC news article full of gorgeous pictures may prove a useful resource in your clinic when trying to educate patients about all the free superfood options at their doorstep.  Enjoy 🙂
