One of my favourite papers on this topic suggests that secondary hyperparathyroidism, and the ‘calcium paradox’ that ensues, is the most likely explanation for, and occurs at rates that readily underpin, many of our chronic diseases: cardiovascular, metabolic, endocrine and even malignant. But if we all were able to recognise the early patterns of calcium issues – we could of course stop it getting to that!
